Notes: We grabbed a spot on the last turn of the route, 50 meters from the finish line. At this point the riders were exhausted from the long and fast climb, but were catching their first glimpse of the finish line just a short uphill sprint ahead.
I spent most of the day yesterday wandering the course of the prologue stage of the Amgen Tour of California in San Francisco, shooting over 400 frames. Sports photography is not my usual thing, but it is an interesting challenge – trying to catch quick action, intense cyclists pushing their limits, crowd scenes, and so forth. I plan to post some of these photographs over the next week or so.
(I did not track the names of all of the cyclists, so I’ll welcome email from anyone who can identify the riders in the photos.)
