It is that time of the year… time for lists of “the best” this and that from 2006. I think such lists are actually a bit of fun and even useful in that they can provide a chance to remember and reflect upon things from the past year that might well othwise be forgotten. (Right now I’m going through thousands of exposures from the past year and rediscovering a number of images that I overlooked, didn’t understand, or didn’t know how to process at the time – and I think I’ve discovered a few nice ones…)
Later this week I’m going to post my own little “favorites” list, but to get the ball rolling, here is a pointer to a Best Of list from The Online Photographer‘s Mike Johnston: The Year in Photography. As a Canon user, I actually enjoy seeing that there are no Canon cameras in his list of best cameras of the year – I think that the increasingly competitive dSLR market is going to be a great thing for photography and photographers. I don’t desire and cannot imagine a world in which Canon vanquishes the competition. :-)
