People News

It is great to hear from and meet people who have seen my photography and found it interesting or even moving. Today I received a very nice email from Nik in the UK, who had visited many of the places I photograph during a visit to California in the mid-1980s. Although he has been all over the world since then, he writes that Death Valley “was the place that got under my skin.” I am flattered when he tells me, “I have just been taken straight back in time and space. Stunning work, man, a thousand thanks from the cold, damp United Kingdom.”

Thanks, Nik. You made my day here in sunny California. (Watch for more Death Valley photos. I’m planning another trip there soon.)

When fellow San Francisco Bay Area folks purchase a photo I try to deliver it myself when possible – and not just to avoid damage during shipping! Yesterday I drove up the peninsula to deliver a print of a black and white photo of the San Francisco skyline to Sandra. I like to meet the people who are interested in my work and to tell them a bit about their new photograph – how, where, and why it was taken and so forth.
