Mount Diablo, Fog and Clouds. Mission Peak Ridge. September 2, 2006. © Copyright G Dan Mitchell.
This photograph was made yesterday on a very early morning climb to the ridge near Mission Peak. The fog bank topped out at about 2000′ and covered the entire San Francisco Bay Area, and only the highest ridges and peaks were visible above the fog. The high clouds were very unusual for an August morning in this part of the world – more typically the sky is almost cloudless at this time of day above the fog. All in all, we’ll worth getting up at 5:00 a.m. and climbing over 2000′.
