Autumn Sunset, Monitor Pass

At the very end of September I did a one-day eastern Sierra blitz – driving from the Bay Area over Carson and Monitor Passes and getting as far south as Lee Vining before returning by the same route. This photograph was made in virtually the last light of the day in a grove of aspens at the summit of Monitor Pass.

  1. Thanks, Michael. I really love the light in this one, too. I made the photograph on last years’ epic One Day Sierra Fall Color circuit – from the Bay Area over Carson and Monitor Passes, south on 395 to the Lee Vining area, and then back via the same route. My last shots of the day were on Monitor Pass as I crossed it on the return trip just before and then as the sun went down, thus getting this wonderful warm light.
