I am contemplating a change in the way that photographs are displayed on the home page and in the rss news feed. Instead of displaying the relatively large versions I have been posting here, I will switch to somewhat smaller versions that will expand when you click on them. I think this will have several benefits: those who subscribe to the rss feed will find that my posts take up less space in their feed viewers, there will be less scrolling to do on my home page, and those who want to see full size images will still be able to do so. One small downside will be that rss feed readers will have to click the title link of each post and come to the home page to see the complete display.
I’ve placed an alternate version of today’s image into this post, displayed in the new format.
As always, I welcome your feedback about this or anything else on my web site.

Thanks for the feedback on that. It is a difficult decision whether to go for the smaller images or the larger ones and whether to add that extra step of clicking to see the larger one. I know what you mean about not being able to see as much detail in the small versions.
I do have control over the size of both the thumbnail and the “full size” versions so I may still play with this a bit.
Glad to hear that I’ve given you an idea of something to do while waiting for Point Lobos to open!

I personally prefer to receive the larger images in my RSS viewer, as it is one less step to see the image. Your images are no so large that it actually taxes the size of the window for viewing articles, even on my small (14″ widescreen) laptop screen. If the small images were displayed, I think I would be more likely to skip clicking on photos that don’t look dramatic in the thumbnail.
I haven’t commented before, but I really loved your set of coastal shots South of Point Lobos–I will remember that when I am home this Summer and waiting for the annoyingly late park opening.
