Selecting This Year’s “Favorite Photographs” – The Third Cut

I’ve taken one more step in the process of whittling down the original candidates for my “2012 Favorites” post –  the number now stands at forty. This still seems like too many, but it become harder to give up images at this point! (In fact, there are a few I removed that I really want to put back in!)

If you are interested in seeing them a bit larger, you can open the image and see it large enough to see a bit more detail. I’d be interested in your thoughts about these or even about some that have been left out.

  1. Looks like a nice cross-section of your work that represents the interest in subjects that you share with us throughout the year. If that is your goal, I’d say well done. And if these also happen to be your “favorites,” all the better. Just don’t leave out something that you really favor more out in order to provide a balance of your interests.

At any rate I’m a fan of your varied subjects and wait with growing interest to see what you deem to be personal favorites. I think it will provide another opportunity for me to learn from your experience.

    1. Thanks, Craig. I think you hit on exactly the issue that make this challenging, namely trying to strike a balance between representing a cross-section of types of work, acknowledging images that others like a lot, not leaving out true personal favorites, some balance among image types (monochrome/color, warm/cool colors, detailed images versus simple images, and more. It is tough! :-)
