The Canon ‘Instant Rebate’ on a bunch of lenses and speedlites is about to end. Many of Canon’s most desirable lenses are included in this rebate and the discounts are substantial. The promotion officially ends tomorrow, but if you are thinking of taking advantage of these prices at site sponsor B&H, keep in mind that they have very limited Saturday hours – a better bet would be to make your purchase today.

One More Time: Canon Lens and Speedlite ‘Instant Rebate’ Ends Soon
I’ll mention this one final time: The Canon Lens and Speedlite ‘Instant Rebate’ Sale ends this week. It includes some very good prices on a wide range of lenses and all (?) of Canon’s Speedlites. One highlight – available through this link – is the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS zoom for $1974.

Updated Lens Reviews: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L, 24-105mm f/4 L IS, 70-200mm f/4 L IS
I’ve been posting to this blog in one form or another for over a half-dozen years now. One side effect of this is that certain articles that made sense when posted years ago end up looking pretty dated today! I found several of those while doing some maintenance on the site today. A couple mentioned my then-current 8MP cropped sensor camera and so forth – gear I haven’t used for years.
With that in mind, I have updated the following posts:
- Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L Lens
- Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS Lens
- Canon EF 70-2oomm f/4 L IS Lens (and some other 70-200mm lens options)
All three are lenses that are core elements of my own kit. (They are also included in the current Canon ‘Instant Rebate” promotion that runs for about another week!)

Canon EOS 5D Mark II Body Under $2000
I just received a note from B&H saying that the Canon EOS 5D Mark II body is available right now for $1999.95. The 5D2 (as I prefer to call it – less typing!) is Canon’s 21 MP full frame DSLR that also can produce excellent HD video. This is the camera that I use for my own photography.
UPDATE: This price includes a “bundle” of other useful items, too:
SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro CompactFlash Card
Lowepro Adventura 170 Shoulder Bag
Red Giant B&H Video Production Software Bundle
The body-only deal is a great opportunity for those who are looking to upgrade from another body and may already have a set of Canon lenses. If you don’t have lenses, two great ones to combine with this camera are the Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 24-70mm f/2.8L or the Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. (I use the 24-105, though I know others who love the 24-70, and it is eligible for the current Canon ‘Instant Rebate’ Promotion on lenses and Speedlites.)
