B&H Holiday Closure Reminder

A reminder that site-sponsor B&H Photo closes in a few days for Passover, and orders placed after noon EDT on Sunday, March 24th may not ship until they reopen. Here is their statement:

“Upcoming Passover Closing

“B&H will be closed from Monday, March 25th in the observance of Passover and will reopen on Wednesday, April 3rd at 9:00AM EDT. Place your order by 12:00PM Noon EDT on Sunday, March 24th in order to ship before the Holiday. Orders placed after this time will ship when we reopen. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patronage.”

You might want to consider this if you plan to order something in the next week or two or if you have been waiting to take advantage of some of the promotions and bundles that expire at the end of March, including several from companies like Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, and more. (See the Deals page for links to some of these specials.)

2011 Favorites

It is always very difficult to select a set of my annual “favorite” photographs. I inevitably find that I have left out photographs that others like a great deal, and I know that I include some that I like but which may not appeal as much to others. And I always want to include more! :-)

With that in mind, here is a group of slightly more than twenty favorite photographs that I made in 2011. Criteria for inclusion, loosely and subjectively applied, included: a desire to include a wide range of my work, what others told me they liked, photographs that have positive personal associations for me, and element of randomness.

There is a story behind every photograph that I make. (As anyone who has talked to me about one of my photographs probably knows – I can go on… and on… and on… about any of them!) If you want to know more about any of the photographs, you can click on them to go to the original posts here at the blog. And I’d love to hear your reactions to the set, along with any questions you have – there is a place for comments at the bottom of the page.

There is a new Canon ‘Instant Rebate’ promotion at site sponsor B&H that features a lot of interesting gear at even lower prices than were available during the instant savings promotion that recently ended. In fact, the selection of lenses and electronic flashes and the size of the discounts both seem unusually large. (It is a bit tough to realize that I just bought a lens at $100 off under the previous offer… and it is now available at $150 off! I’ve heard a rumor that some vendors may honor the more recent pricing if you call them, so I may give that a try.)
