Announcements from Nikon and Canon

Today Nikon announced two new 36+MP full frame DSLRs, the D800 and D800E, and Canon announced a long-awaited update to their EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L zoom. I’ve posted a bit more information in a new entry on the Deals page.

  1. The E version is pretty tempting for the landscape shooter, especially coupled with that 14-24. At 14mm the Nikkor zoom on a D3x tested sharper than the Canon 14 f/4L II on a 5D2 according to the charts at photozone.de. If only they had the selection of TS-E lenses that Canon does! I wouldn’t be thinking this way if I hadn’t just sold a bunch of Canon glass. That money is burning a hole in my pocket…
