Fujifilm X-Series Lens Bundle Discounts Return

Site affiliate B&H has a “Buy Together and Save” instant savings offer when you purchase a Fujifilm X PROX-E2, or X-E1 in a variety of configurations and colors and buy lenses at the same time. Savings on lenses range from $100 to $250 each.

Step 1: Purchase a camera using one of the following links:

Step 2: On the camera page at the above-listed links look for the “Buy Together and Save” link (which will likely list one specific lens). This goes to a page listing all of the available lenses and savings. Lenses include the essentially ALL X-series camera lenses, including the most recently announced. (Links not included here, since you’ll need to follow the B&H links when you buy the camera):

  • 14mm f/2.8 XF R ultra-wide lens – save $200
  • 18mm f/2 XF R lens – save $200
  • 23mm f/1.4 XF R lens – save $100
  • 27mm f/2.8 XF lens – save $150
  • 35mm f/1.4 XF R Lens – save $150

Lenses are also eligible for a 4% B&H “reward” offer. Note that not all lenses are necessarily available with all cameras. For example, the 18-55mm lens is already included with the bundles. Expires 12/24/13. (Check the B&H site for full details.)

Fujifilm X-E2 Now Available

(Updated to fix link errors and differentiate between available versions and versions available of pre-order.)

As you may know, I am an enthusiastic user of the Fujifilm X-E1 mirrorless rangefinder-style digital camera system. (See an exhaustive review here: Taking Stock of the Fujifilm X-E1 Mirrorless Camera). Recently Fujifilm announced the X-E2, an updated version of this camera. It is now becoming available in limited quantities from site-sponsor B&H.Fujifilm X-E2 Digital Mirrorless Camera with 18-55mm lens

The new body takes the original x-E1, a fine camera in its own right, and improves several elements of its performance – notably in the areas of autofocus performance, video, a faster processor, and more.

Nikon’s New Df DSLR

Nikon Df DSLR
Nikon Df DSLR

Today Nikon announced a new Nikon Df DSLR camera that is revolutionary because it is retro! ;-)

Today there are many who find some features of older SLR cameras to be appealing and perhaps, in some ways, preferable to some of the interface elements on modern DSLRs. (Among these people are an older generation that started out with those classic camera and a newer generation that has rediscovered the older cameras at thrift shops and garage sales.) The older SLR film cameras were often tightly constructed, mostly of metal, with clean lines, and they came with lenses that were often much smaller than the big lenses that seem to be in vogue today. Perhaps most important, they featured external manual controls for essentially all features of the camera. Using them was, in many ways, a very different experience from using todays digital cameras, where single dials and buttons perform multiple functions and you must look at LCD displays to see what you are adjusting.

It seems to me that what Nikon may have done here is take some of the best features of the older cameras (physical control knobs, smaller and tighter design, liberal use of metal parts, etc) and fuse them with a thoroughly modern digital camera. Make no mistake, this is not an “old school” camera – it is a modern camera that carries forward some proven design elements from an earlier era. This may not be for everyone, but lots of photographers are going to like this.

You can pre-order the camera and a new 50mm lens that was designed to complement it at B&H now.

Fujifilm X100S in Stock & Price Reduction on X-E1/Lens Bundle

The Fujifilm X100S is currently in stock at site-sponsor B&H Photography. The X100S is a digital rangefinder camera with a fixed focal length 35mm equivalent 23mm f/2 lens, featuring a hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder. It uses the Fujifilm 16MP X-trans sensor. This camera has been in great demand and very hard to find, with extremely limited stock. I just checked and B&H has it in stock as of the time of this posting.

The X100s uses much of the same technology as the interchangeable-lens X-E1 that I use – see my review here. And speaking of that camera, the X-E1 bundled with the Fujinon 18-55mm lens is currently only $999, or $200 off the previous price. (There are rumors that an “X-E2” model may be announced soon, so this is probably a great time to save money on the fine X-E1.)
