I have stopped to look at and sometimes photograph this little stream for a couple of decades. It lies along a road in the Eastern Sierra Nevada where I often photograph fall color and occasionally go to access backcountry trailheads. At the right moment of the day and season, it is surrounded by very colorful aspen trees.
This is another example of photographing aspen color in soft, shadowed light. The muted light allows details to be seen that would be obliterated in the intense, high contrast direct sunlight. In the shadows the trees are still colorful (though they may need a color adjustment in post) but the darker areas of the scene along the creek and in the shadows now reveal some details.
