I had collapsed the tripod and put the camera away, and I was heading back to the car when hundreds of gulls assembled into a large rotating cloud just off-short. I had just enough time to take out the camera and grab a few hand-held shots.

I happen to have both of the new Mac image management programs: Apple’s Aperture and Adobe’s Lightroom beta. My initial reaction is that both are very intriguing and useful programs. Right now Aperture has more functioning features, but Lightroom is more intuitive.

After work today I had just enough time to drive south of town to some of my favorite oak-covered hills and climb to the first ridge as the sun went down.
