In case you haven’t heard, it is wet in Scotland. I knew this, having been there before, but coming from the relatively dry climate of California, it is still quite a contrast. One thing that still takes me by surprise at first is the size of the streams and rivers that can arise over short distances — and that they are everywhere. We stopped and photographed this roadside cascade as we were departing Skye and about to head north.
This was a trickier photograph than it may seem. The primary challenge was the radically varying light. Broken clouds were alternating sending bright sun and dark shadows across the landscape, and there was only a brief interval when both the foreground and the distant peak were illuminated. The word “Marsco” in the title refers to the tall peak with it summit in shadow — or at least I hope it does! It can be a challenge to identify peaks in this landscape from photographs!
