Black and white photograph of late spring snow flurries in the ghost town of Bodie, California. Bodie is the famous and relatively well-preserved ghost town in the silver mining area of the high desert east of Yosemite National Park. (Posting the series of Rhyolite photographs made me realize that I have some older photographs of Bodie that haven’t been posted here yet.)

The precise spot is near the end of a large dry dock and not too far from the Mare Island Museum. Dusk photograph of a Mare Island Naval Shipyard Industrial Street with historic buildings, shipyard structures, and tracks. Photographed early on during an evening of night photography at this historical location. This photograph looks up a dockside street that has old shipyard buildings on one side, railroad tracks in the middle of the road, giant crane-like structures overhead, and the drydocks and ship launching areas on the right.

I was already set up to shoot photographs of the Golden Gate (in this wonderful, luminous, hazy morning light) when I spotted this flock of seabirds flying across the Bay.
