Black and white photograph of narrow urban canyon that is Maiden Lake, in the financial district of New York City.
This street scene is in lower Manhattan, not far from the site of the World Trade Center towers. The morning light seems especially interesting on this curving street as the sun manages to penetrate all the way to the street level and the illuminated fronts of the buildings lining the “concrete canyon” are visible due to the curve.

That is very cool! The reason that I happen to have some photographs of Maiden Lane is that my oldest son works in that area – actually on Maiden Lane if I remember correctly. He is also a street photographer and often into historical stuff, and I think he might like that photograph.
It is interesting how small cues tell us the time period in the modern photograph, even though most of the scene has changed little.

Very close to that in space, but more than 60 years separated in time: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sherwoodh/3031523692/in/set-72157608544393719/
