
This is another photograph from our day in Aberdeen, Scotland. We basically spent the majority of the day just walking — going down toward the dock area from our lodgings and then wandering. In an old section of central Aberdeen we found ourselves in an area with quite a lot of street art — posters, paintings, graffiti, and more. One surprise is that it all seemed oddly organized and neat. View this large and enjoy trying to make sense of the collection of bits and pieces.
I’ll mention one in particular. The large “TrackieTimes” poster contains the following text: “Monday News “I’M AFF IT” CONFIRMED BIGGEST LIE TOLD IN SCOTLAND.” There’s a story behind this piece. First, it was not the only “TrackieTimes” poster — they were all over the place, with a range of messages. Apparently a street artist by the name of Trackie MacLeod posts these all over, and not just in Aberdeen. Many seem to refer to some Scottish slang or dialect. In this one, “I’m off it” is reputedly a line used after someone has gone on a bender and regrets it — it means, “I’m off it,” is in, I’m done drinking. But maybe not…
