Colorful autumn oak leaves in Yosemite Valley with granite rock behind. I visit the Valley every fall near the end of October for the spectacular fall color show. I found these leaves along a trail behind the Valley Chapel.

I photographed these very colorful autumn aspen leaves on the ground in a small grove along Bishop Creek in the eastern Sierra Nevada range.

Believe it or not, but this photo was made during lunch hour on a weekday – a very busy time in San Francisco. I managed to catch an unusual lull in the pedestrian traffic; my other photos of this general scene include many people.

I photographed this minimalist seascape along the Pacific Ocean coastline south of San Francisco, California during the summer of 2006. One goal was to convey a sense of the space and distance in this scene, and the inclusion of the very small images of the gulls in the foreground was part of this.
