Beneath the Bay Bridge

Beneath the Bay Bridge

A pier beneath the west end of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge with downtown San Francisco, California.

The light was a challenge in this photograph, but I found the dense and somewhat out of kilter lines and forms of the pier, bridge, and downtown buildings interesting. The photograph was made from one of the piers along the Embarcadero that is used as a parking lot – extending out into the Bay a bit it gave me a view back toward the City over and through the intervening structures.

Psychedelic San Francisco Doorways

Psychedelic San Francisco Doorways

A pair of very brightly painted yet terribly dilapidated doorways near the border of Chinatown and North Beach, San Francisco, California.

A question: If you are wandering about in The City (or the city ;-)  and carrying a camera, how can you not photograph something like this?

These wildly painted yet badly dilapidated doors are on a relatively nondescript street more or less along the boundary between Chinatown and North Beach.

Templo la Hermosa

Front doors and entrance of Templo la Hermosa de los Asembleas de Dios, San Jose, California.

Very late in the day, as the low sunlight hit the front of this rather plain brick church near the train station in down town San Jose head on, I walked past and noticed the very thick arch and old wooden doors, along with the bushes casting shadows on the front of the entry.

Cannery Building, Poles, and Shuttered Windows

Old brick cannery building with metal shutters, utility poles and wires, sidewwalk and street in San Jose, California.

Just west of downtown San Jose, near the Los Gatos Creek, is the site of the old Del Monte cannery. For many years, back when Santa Clara Valley was still an agricultural center, this was a thriving area centered around the very busy cannery. The cannery is gone now, replace by new condos with more under construction. However, on a few side streets in the area some of the old cannery buildings still stand, including this brick building with the interesting metal window shutters.
