Man Walking, Rain – Getty Center

This is another photograph from my late-December visit to the Getty in Los Angeles. To recap… it rained. And it was foggy. Both of which I like. While I love the art at this museum, I’m also a big fan of the architecture — and it is also a fine place to photograph people.

I found this spot with many vertical forms of columns, windows and so forth along with their reflections on the rain-dampened sidewalk/floor. I found a composition I liked… and then I waited as individuals and groups of people crossed this space.

Sunset Surf, Big Sur Coastline

Panoramic photograph of winter surf and rough winter seas along the Big Sur coastline at sunset, California.

This is actually a photograph that I posted previously, but this time presented in a panoramic orientation. The last bit of sunset light is shining through a gap in the otherwise cloudy sky. (I didn’t realize it when I posted the original version, but I managed to get a good case of poison oak by clambering out onto the edge of this bluff to make this photograph…)

Yellow Building For Lease

A yellow light industrial building with black windows with a red and white “For Lease” sign, San Jose, California.

Number 3 in the News Day photo-walk series, and this one is perhaps the brightest and most intensely colored of the bunch. This light industrial building has apparently been deserted for a while and it is currently for lease. This bright yellow corrugated metal structure is right across the street from the intense green building from which the previous-posted photography came.

Green Wall

Green wall with green door and window in an urban industrial area of San Jose, California.

This is another urban landscape from my New Years Day walk and shoot. This photograph and the one that follows (a yellow building with a “For Lease” sign) are almost directly across the street from one another – a colorful bit of industrial neighborhood for sure! Despite the weathered and repainted character of this detail, the overall building is actually in decent shape. There is something mysterious about it though with the green color(s) and the boarded up windows and the door with no handle.
